The policies listed below are subject to change at any time. They were last updated September, 2019.
Here’s my unofficial policy: I don’t spam and I don’t share.
This is a WordPress site, which gives you a lot of control over the personal data I have to collect on you. WordPress version 4.9.6 added a lot of privacy compliance which is easy to use. Continue reading for more information.
I use “cookies” on this site, and I sometimes use “cookies” as a stress-coping mechanism (don’t judge me!). On this site, a cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor’s hard drive to help improve your access to my site and identify repeat visitors. Cookies can also enable me to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site (although frankly I don’t know how, it just works). Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our site.
If I had any advertisers on this site, they might use their cookies on this site. However, I would have no access to or control over these cookies. Would you like a great cookie recipe? Just ask me: email@example.com.
Order Processing: If you purchase something from my store (thank you) I request your information on the order form so that we can complete the transaction. You must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) This information is used for billing purposes and to fill your orders, and to provide updates if they become available. If we have trouble processing an order, we’ll use this information to contact you. I provide a PayPal link for payments, but all parts of the transaction take place on the PayPal platform.
Newsletter sign-up: By signing up for my newsletter via the MailerLite double-opt-in sign up form, you agree to receive occasional emails from me. I will not share my email list, and I will only send you information I think you might be interested in. Don’t want to receive any more emails? Scroll to the bottom and click ‘unsubscribe’.
Log Data: Whenever you visit my website, I collect information that your browser sends that is called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser version, pages of my website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics. This information may be used to create ads based on those who visit this website. However, this data will not be used by anyone other than me.
YOUR CONTROL OF DATA AND MY CONTROL OF YOUR DATA
You are in control of your own data on my site.
To view or modify your account, go to My Account at the top of this screen. Because we have entered into a transaction together, however, that account information will be retained for recordkeeping.
To unsubscribe from MailerLite, scroll to the bottom of the email and click ‘unsubscribe’.
I, however, will retain information in MailerLite regarding when you were added to the list and when you were removed (required), and in my sales information history. I will keep this information forever because I’m supposed to.
Regardless of the fact that I was reading romance books waaaaay before I was 13 years old – God Bless Barbara Cartland – I do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. If they’ve gotten a hold of mom or dad’s credit card or PayPal account, that’s not my problem. If I do find out that there’s been shenanigans, I will contact their parents/guardians and we’ll figure out what to do.
Are you a concerned parent or guardian? Contact me: firstname.lastname@example.org
I take precautions to protect your information. When you submit information via my website, your information is protected both online and offline. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.
The only contact this site has with PayPal is a payment confirmation.
While I use encryption to protect information transmitted online, I also protect your information offline. I am the only person who sees and handles your information, and the computers/servers in which I store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment (and not on the laptop I haul around).
If, however, there is a data breach you will be notified within 24 hours.
Have more questions about the security of your data? Just ask me: email@example.com
